I noticed the other day that E-mart has this game, but the box is Korean. I have actually only played this game once, maybe a year and half ago, but I really enjoyed it. I am wondering if anyone here has purchased this game from E-mart, and if so is it the same deal as Catan back home?

There is Settlers of Catan, and there is also some Stone Age Settlers game, which is quite similar but has some different aspects.
If it has the same red box, I am sure it's the same. |

The korean version seems to have traditional korean themed buildings in the set (or maybe its asian themed buildings) as opposed to the generic houses you get in the western version.
I haven't bought it yet, but the box pics seem to indicate this. |

All instructions and game cards are written in Korean. Not really a big deal since you can find the English translations online or ask a Korean friend to translate the simple game cards. I recently bought it and so I've been successful in getting some co-workers interested in playing it, English or no English. |

You can also get this (and many other games) at Youngpoong Books (Jonggak Station or Express Bus Terminal in Seoul). I paid W39,000 for my copy (more for the the 5-6 player expansion) and have been happy with it once we got the English instructions.
One thing to note is that the components are moulded plastic, which (for me) do not feel as nice as the wooden European ones. You can always make your own though. |

It's not the same, but I play on a good online site: games.asobrain.com
You can play the Cities & Knights expansion too which is cool. |
