My hard drive isn't registering on my computer anymore. I need to get it serviced because I don't want to lose all of files especially my photos. It is a Samsung brand model HD501LJ. It was purchased only about a year and a half ago, but I don't have the receipt.

Where can I take it in Seoul to get it fixed? I am crossing my fingers on this one.

You can probably do it yourself:

First buy another hard drive. SInce this one is dying anyhow, you'll need a new one.

Install the new hard drive, and put windows (or whatever) on it.
When that's all done, install the second hard drive. Now you can run scandisk and other nifty things to try and recover your data.

This method has saved me more than once.

Without knowing what happened, its a tough call.

Kind of scorched earth, but ladron is certainly correct in any event.

First check and double check the connections. Sometimes they creep out. then go follow the post above. Even if your hdd got serviced you'd still want another one to be safe. If it fails once...

The hhard drive is defective. When i put power to it there is a clicking noise. I did some checking and the clicking noise is most like the head needle. I got lucky and was able to get it to start up once. So I transferred all my photos which are the most important things on my hard drive.
