I just heard that David Carradine died. I'm not sure how as my source was a friends facebook status. I don't think the details of his death are of too much importance. I suspect he will be better known for how he lived rather than how he died. Kung-fu, aye-ya!!!
This status did remind of the time I met David Carradine. I was on tour in a punk band called Les Turdz and we were in the town of Mount Shasta, California to play the Recess Records Pins and Needles festival. This is a sleepy little town in northern California where the many of the locals believe that aliens are living in the hills.
The festival was held only in the evening time. The early part of the day we spent wondering about this Mayberry-ish town. Don't stand there a shop keeper would say, Don't stand there either a police man would say. Finally we found some parking lot to relax in peace.
Soon enough a homeless local showed up and introduced himself.
Hello, I'm David Carrodine he said.
Bullshit we all said.
Bullshit this he said and showed his credentials as he started singing and fighting.
There I was completely wasting
Karate Chop
Out of work and down
Kick
All inside its so frustrating
Jump and kick
As I drift from town to town
Swirly swatting at mosquito hands
Feel as though nobody cares
Maneuver resembling a cartwheel
So I might as well begin
Double kick, Double chop
To put some action in my life
Flute fingers, close uncomfortable tiger eye stare.
I still had my doubts that this was Mr. Carradine. It had been awhile since I've seen him in any flicks but certainly along the way some where he must have picked up a better dental plan than me and certainly he would have at least a few good teeth left. His skills were not to be questioned though. Rest in peace Sinsae Carradine.

***I learned how he died after this. I'm guessing he will be remembered for that too.

I find it very sad that he may have committed suicide. I loved Kung Fu the series and the messages in the movie. Maybe, had he internalized that philosophy, he wouldn't have ended up that way. I don't know. Now, if he were in some pain, facing down some terminal illness, I might understand, and I am sad that his life ended the way it did. It's possible he was murdered. We will see.

Freaky sex can be dangerous, but a risk the man was willing to take.[/code]

Was he really that odd-ball? His character in the later series of Kung Fu didn't seem that odd.

Maybe he got involved in the Thai sex mafia and owed someone money?

There are still some major questions.

For example, WHY would someone need to get off by aphixation in the land of millions of baht-loving women clamoring to be in your bed and viagara drugs on every corner?

Well, not to judge the man, but he was not Zen-like or Buddhist and sage like in the way of the character Kwai Chang Cain. He was no Shaolin priest. He was supposedly on drugs at some point. That doesn't make one good or bad, it just means he was far from that character in his life. His on-screen persona was very much disconnected from his real one. Perhaps, Bruce Lee was more connected to that sort of thing than Carradine and also Chuck Norris wrote a book about Zen.

Yes, Carradine could have gone with some prostitute instead of doing himself in. Things seem suspicious. His hands were tied. It may appear that someone tied his hands up. He could have been under the influence of something when it happened. We need a toxicology report to know that. I hope the Thai police is doing that. He could have been with someone and doing some weird sexual type act and then ended up killed.

I seriously doubt he committed suicide. I admire him for his success in life, and I am sorry he went the way he did. I would like some answers.

Auto-erotic Asphyxiation is most prevalent among old men. It helps some of them feel better about their lacking sexual performance.

There is the story about when he and actress Barbara Hershey had a baby they were going to eat the placenta. Shocked

But they decided to bury it instead and grow a tree on it.

I've heard of this before and it occurs in various forms and of course super dangerous.

Back in the 1990s, there was this Air Force officer in Washington State who did something similar in an empty airplane hanger. He got naked, tied himself to a rope behind his car, tied the wheel so that the car would tun in a circle and the car would then drag him along while he got off. Well, the rope was a tad too long and I guess the car ran him over and killed him. They later found him naked and dead in the hanger.

i guess i'm a pretty open minded guy but what a bizarre and dangerous type of kink to pursue in order to get yer nut off...why? especially when you have so many women there willing to attend to you.

He couldn't have tied his hands by himself, so there's someone - local bar girl? - out there that was with him. scared, she probably fled after she realized he couldn't be revived.

To paraphrase Homer Simpson, "It makes a good thing BETTER!" Laughing

Too bad though. My girlfriend the elementary science teacher Blaire gives me the "Hangman" once a month! at first she thought it was odd, but I think she's slowly warming up to it! Wink

Chuck Norris was once quoted as saying: "David Carradine is to Martial Arts as I am to acting."
