Gilani asked Holbrooke during their Friday meeting to help Islamabad's struggle against Taliban militants by writing off $1.35 billion it owes to the United States, Pakistan's English language newspaper Dawn reported.

Holbrooke told Gilani he would look into the matter, Minister of State for Finance and Economic Affairs Hina Khar told Dawn.

Also during the meeting, Gilani reportedly urged the White House to persuade Congress to put requests for substantial increases in military aid to Pakistan on a fast track while it battles Taliban militants in the North West Frontier Province.

Dawn said Gilani acknowledged that the United States had funneled $300 million in humanitarian aid to Islamabad in its efforts to help millions of refugees in Swat and other war-torn northwestern districts.

PTI quoted the Pentagon documents as saying that a major portion of post-Sept. 11, 2001, U.S. military aid meant to counter advances made by the Taliban and al-Qaida in Pakistan's northwest was instead used to buy and refurbish eight P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, worth $474 million.

Islamabad also placed orders for 5,250 TOW anti-armor missiles worth $186 million with the aid, the news agency said, adding that 2,007 of missiles have already been delivered and the rest are on the way.

Exactly, can I get a tiny drop in the bucket $40G's student loan debt forgiven to aid me in my struggle against a tough economy only shedding jobs by the 10's of thousands each day?

It would only be right that if the US government is going to bail anyone out and fore give debt, they start with the US citizens demonstrating need such as underemployed college grads and small business owners beat out by Wal*Mart and the ultra wealthy. It's apparent, US citizens interests are last on the governments agenda of priorities. Why support communism and corruption instead of the American people?

Wow, man. That's only $35,428.58 per TOW.
I learned how to put a TOW into operation in the army. Never fired one.
Also played moving target for a TOW unit in my tank during a training exercise.
While it's true I was/am the most brilliant and awesome warrior ever to drive the Sheridan M551A1/ARAAV into tactical operations,
The TOW gunners did hit us [CLASSIFIED]% of the time.
People, these weapons require an experienced hardcore gunner to wreak havoc.

Cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Is this supply and demand in action ? Free market? Market Manipulation? What about Black Market? Are these things even still being manufactured?
Check some serial #'s. Are there any aftermarket mods available? Someone's making a killing. Economically and on the battlefield.

Getting this back on topic, I don't think Pakistan's loan should be forgiven, but maybe it could be converted into a student loan. Idea
