|
|
I had my interview with SMOE last Monday (June 1st). I thought it went well. The interviewer told me they would notify my recruiter (Korea Connections) of the results by the end of the week. A day later I got an email from my recruiter saying that SMOE has put my interview results on a waiting list and I haven't heard anything since then.
Other people seem to have gotten their interview results from SMOE quite quickly. Has anyone else been told their results are on a waiting list? Is this "code" for something? |

| I work for SMOE, and they are still in the process of conducting evaluations for current teachers who want to stay. I imagine they'll have to get all the contracts sorted out for the current teachers who want to renew and check the numbers before they can send out contracts to the new ones. |

hm...
i had my job interview with smoe back in mid may and got the job offer 3 days later... and recieved my contract this week.
i'm assuming you're on the waiting list (like universities) so if teachers decide not to take their positions then you'll get their position.
i'm thinking of not taking my smoe job. i heard that with a f4 visa i can get jobs that pay 3-4mill a month. so 1.8 mill that smoe is offering is too small |

W1,800,000 = USD 1437.01 at the current exchange rate. That's just under $12/hr.
Considering SMOE will not give you a letter of release (even if you resign under terms of the contract), this is something to think about. |

Public schools suck. The programs are crashing in quality. |

You should also add in apartment rent (not the security deposit). If you average 500,000/month tack on another 6 million to the salary.
This is what you would be paying if you were back in your "home" country. |

W27,600,000 seems like a lot to pay for a job. |

I'd laugh at them for 1.8.
Still, the $12/hr. argument is not valid, because we pay 3.3% tax. Back home it would be closer to 30% plus health care deductions (USA). Start adding the apartment provided, and the fact that you don't need a car to live here, and you're suddenly banking a lot of cash where you wouldn't back home.
In any case, 1.8 is a joke. |

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!
That is hilarious. An F4 viswa holder, with NO experience (1.8 is bottom of the barrel for SMOE. That means no MA, no Certificate, no experience) making 3-4 mil a month.
Maybe you should put down whatever it is you are smoking. |

I concur, wholehearedly! At least in terms of them trying to actually SOLVE problems. And by "they," I mean the so-called co-ordinators. when I was attacked by my coteacher the day after our most recent argument, GEPIK made TWO WHOLE PHONECALLS, then considered the problem not to be worth looking into!
Now all I need is a plan for as many at the school and GEPIK to lose as much Face as possible..... I like it when problems bring out the "John McClane" in me. |
