Some posters on Dave's I read and shake my head every time. I'd love to meet these guys just to see how close reality is to their on line persona.
So here is my list:
1. buymybook
2. yingwenlaoshi
3. tomato
4. fromtheuk
5. wylies99
I'd love to get all five in a bar at once. What is your list? |

That's almost my list as well. Ying especially. His continuous story fascinates me (in a good way). |

I don't have time to study people's fake names and very, very rarely even look to see who posted. Therefore, I have no interest in meeting anyone from this board. This whole thread seems more "off-topic" than "living in Korea". |

I've met four of them (actually one I know quite well and one really well). They're all pretty much what you'd expect from their on-line personae. |

I fear I might have offended the Great Toad about a year ago with my ill thought out comments about Christianity (I meant to be slagging off mainstream Korean Christianity, rather than all Christians - sorry).
I'd like to meet Captain Corea IRL, along with Bluelake and Racetraitor. Also Cheonmunka as he's another kiwi with an interest in studying Korean. One guy who's impressed me a lot with his thoughtful and/or amusing posts is Harlowethrombey. PeteJB, Vanislander and nosmallplans are also on my list.
The vast majority of the posters here actually seem like pretty civil, good humoured and decent people. One or two stand out in their obnoxiousness, but they don't need to be named. |

So, is it just the desire to remain anonymous that keeps everyone from meeting each other?
I'm sure distance isn't that great of a divider in Korea.
Would an ESL Cafe meet be that far fetched? Hell, even Yelp and CouchSurfing have regular meets. |

I'm an avid member of Couchsurfing and would be interested in having a Dave's meetup before the end of July! |

There were Dave's meetups in the past. Hell, I chanced upon one once when I went to one of the few "sit-down" bars in Hongae- Shooters and C*cks
Ended up meeting Tiger Beer, SPINOZA, and someone else whose username I don't remember. But I left pretty quickly after that. For me, it's just too weird meeting people that way...where the first question is "What's your username??"
Seems meetups were fairly regular a few years ago, but I never went to any (except that chance encounter). |
