Ok, You can forgive some ingnorance on my part with regards to this but I thought 3.3% was the going Tax rate - for English teachers anyway. Anything I have read has shown this to be the case? What are you paying? 1% Tax?
Also does anyone have an email contact for the Labor Board? I would like to send a copy of my contract to them so they can review it if possible.
With regards to the pension. If Im not paying it out in the mean time I can see no real benefit in claiming it back when im done - unless somehow it grows mad amounts of interest in the Govt pockets or Im somehow entitled to take the share my director pays into it - --- that would be a nice twist of fate! |

I'm paying something like 1.5% which is correct on the sliding scale. I don't have the website but I can get it for you from my computer at home.
Also, what country are you from? If you're from America you are entitled to ALL of the pension that gets paid into your account. That means you will get your 4.5% plus your bosses 4.5% that he MUST pay to match your contribution. I knew the laws for the other countries, but I'm not going to tell you something wrong. Instead I'll send you the link when I get home.
BTW, I'm not in the newbie know-it-all phase. I actually went through this same thing not long ago but my school got it all straightened out. I did a lot of research and got a lot of help from veterans. |

Hmmm that is very interesting. I am not American however, Im Scottish from the UK. I wonder if the law is similar. Again I havent found anything that tells me that kind of information to be honest. But if you have a link for the Tax and the Pension stuff PM stick it up on here and I will be very thankful!!
Im am just trying to find some leverage now so that I can wrangle a deal or bail the hell outta town! |

Any contract that pre-determines losses in a contract is void according to the Korean Labor Laws (Article 19, I believe). I recently won a battle with a major Korean University over a similar situation. |

Shabba!
Thats a good one - I did notice that article while I was rummaging through the Labour Board site. It seems pretty obsurd that something like that would even get passed my recruiter. However I did email them recently regarding my concerns and they're reply was more or less "Illegal? what do you mean? .... which part?" followed by complete communiation silence.
You gotta love ESL teaching in Korea, and those good old fashion honest recruiters eh? |
