I was wondering if I would be able to get a visa in Korea if my criminal check states that I got a DUI in 2001. Just in case you are unaware of what DUI stands for, its driving under the influence. The case was lowered when went to court, but just the fact its there could certainly cause issues.
When I went to Korea last year, I was living in California and got a local check in which the DUI was not included in the report.
I am now back in NY visiting my family before I head back to Korea and got a CBC here and it shows the DUI.
Does anyone know if this will prevent me from getting a visa? |

I'm not sure but what I would do (if you're worried) is request the CBC and see if its on the record.
If it is, check what the process is to have it expunged from your record. I imagine the person who does the CBC could provide that info. |

| Get a CBC from another office such as a sheriff's department or the next town over. Problem solved. |

| get your cbc done in another state, thats what my buddy did... he has like 4 DUIs lol .. hes here in korea |

Get a background check that only shows felony convictions. I detailed every traffic offense to the consular general in my visa interview, and he stopped me by the fourth one. He's not going to care about your DUI - ahem, I mean your Reckless Driving offense. |

| It's up to the man to say yes or no...what works for one person who has a bad CBC may not work for another...it's hit or miss. |

I got a county CRC that was squeaky clean, since I'd only lived there for about two months. However, in the interests of disclosure, I verbally told the Consulate my previous disagreements with the law. They weren't interested. |

There are many laws with which I disagree. I have never found a bureaucrat that was interested.  |
