|

I'm going to be in Seoul in a few weeks, and I'd like to check out a health food store if there are any good ones. I'm not just looking for a pill shop like GNC, but rather something more like a good health food store back in North America.
Can anyone recommend a decent one?
Thanks |

there really aren't any anywhere close to being comparable to what's in the U.S.
health stores in general are non-existent as K food is considered the ultimate healthy food here - and herbal medicines are prescribed and sold by drs and pharmacists.
gnc is very expensive here and don't even sell b-12 tabs, which people like me have to take if they don't eat beef or pork (I don't).
your best bet is to order online and/or wait until you go abroad to Thailand or elsewhere |

Just hit the traditional markets, esp Namdaemoon and you'll find plenty of minerals, fresh off the farm produce, traditional roots and the like, nuts, etc.
Also check out Cheonryangri station, can't remember exactly where, but nearby there's a huge market of fresh vegetables/fruit as well as traditional herbs (its apparently where all the herbalists buy their raw materials). Or Geunam market... or pretty much anywhere not in Gangnam (the new part of Seoul). |

Huckleberry Farms. There are two locations. One in Apgujeong (don't recall exactly where) and one in Bundang near Jeongja subway station.
They carry all sorts of pricy organic fruits, veggies, juices, meats, powders, and potions. |

In Mokdong there's a big supermarket called "Orga Foods". I think it's a chain but not sure. Anyway, lots of organic, healthy products there. Alot of imports from US, high-end health food products. I like shopping there, but it's soooo expensive. And they cover the English labelling with the Korean label, which is annoying sometimes (for me), but expected I suppose. They have great beauty products and home supplies too, all natural. Again, expensive.
From Omokyo station, get in a taxi and say "Mok-ship-dang-ji" Then get out when you see a Paris Baguette/ Mr. Pizza / KEB on your left (less than 5 min). Orga is inside the walking boulevard, to your right from Mr. Pizza. |

The Huckleberry Farms in Apgujeong is gone
I went there a couple of Sundays ago and it's empty.
There's also an Orga near Express bus terminal |

Thanks for all of the tips, guys.
I just found this link for Orga Foods
http://www.orga.co.kr
Could one of you with better Korean than me see if there's a link to a map for the store near the Express Bus Terminal?
Thanks again |

Lotte Department Store, Lotte World, at Jamsil Station has a good organic food section on the first floor--but it's pricey. |
