|
|
I saw this on the news yesterday, but my Korean isn't good enough to understand much. Apparently some Korean guy threw acid in the face of some woman on the street. They were interviewing her in her hospital bed (she was horribly burned).
Funny I didn't see anything about this in the English media. I hope this isn't going to become a trend like in some Moslem countries.
Did anyone else catch this story? Was it random, or a past lover? |

I haven't seen any reports of it. With what happened in Hong Kong about 3 weeks ago (two bottles of acid splashed into a crowded shopping district where about 2 dozen were injured) I hope this is just an isolated incident. I would hate to see this sort of twisted form of Islamic justice come to East Asia. |

Except this has nothing to do with "Islamic justice," considering the acid bottles were thrown out of buildings onto random passersby. In India and the Middle East, it's done to "reclaim" the honor from a "dishonored" woman. |

A lot of Korean men are total creampuffs but they're perfectly willing to bully women.
Exhibit A. |

From the video, which aired on my DMB (I think it was MBC's DMB channel), showed a re-enactment of a what appeared to be a Korean man walking up behind the woman and splashing it directly into her face. |

Pickpockets (I forget in which country--but I think it was in Asia) are starting to use acid in order to escape capture. Let's say you notice someone lifting something off of you, you turn and grab the culprit, SPLASH, acid in the face. Maybe this is what happened.
Oops, re-read the original post. Maybe she pickpocketed him. |

Acid isn't that easily attainable, or is it. Anyone who would go through all that trouble to commit a crime has to be nuts. I'm wondering if the guy was a psycho working in a lab nearby perhaps. |

With the way the Korean justice system treats women, he'll be given a weekend in a HOF to think about what he did. |

Acid is quite easily attainable. Anyone with five minutes to search the internet and a little cash can make some pretty nasty stuff. |

I remember a report back in the 1990s about a boy in Daegu who died a week after some guy threw acid in his face. The attack was simply random and I believe police never caught the f----r who did it. |

She will be sued for improper disposal of a caustic substance. And she will lose. |

You can get it in any pharmacy in Korea. In a bottle right beside the hydrogyn peroxide. Don't grab the wrong one for your mouth wash. |

Never heard of using Hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash, interesting. I have used it to losen up ear wax.
As for the woman getting attacked, what a shame. But to suggest that this might a trend coming to Korea, I think that is reaching a bit. There are bad people everywhere. American and Canadian men aren't exactly on the top of the list of treatment of women. Did you know that Superbowl Sunday is the day where most domestic violence complaints are issued? |
