They signed him in 2003 for 12 million quid. |

Quotes from Ronaldo and Ferguson...
"Now I understand I made the best decision," Ronaldo told Spanish sports paper Marca at the end of last summer. "I am with Manchester in body and soul.
But the speculation soured relations between the clubs and last December United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said that he would not "sell that mob a virus".
Lesson? Never listen to a player or manager when talking of loyalty to club.....and money talks.
80,000,000 pounds is mad, mad, mad. Real Madrid must have cash falling out of their fascist arses.... |

I knew he'd leave eventually and, after the bitterly disappointing performance against Barca, kind of figured it'd be this summer.
Real Madrid, with Kaka and Ronaldo, are obviously frightening, but I still don't necessarily see them as bettering Barca. |

One more reason to hope that Barca destroys them in the Classico next year. |

Good piece of business. Now they can get Benzema and Diego and 20 odd youngsters. |

I think that you have to take the 80 million if your Ferguson.
Despite the moves, Real still have no defence.
It will be good to see how the personalities clash on that team. I seem to recall Ronaldo and Ruud Van Nistelrooy not getting along well in Manchester. |

Diego has already been sold to Juve.
if Man U were owned by Arabs instead of Yanks I think there's less chance CR would have been sold.
As for Benzema, I think Man U need more of a poacher in front of goal having Berbatov and Rooney who are neither those. Anyway Benzema has stated he wants Spain or Italy.
There is some talk of a player being involved in the deal too, rumoured to be Huntelaar.
CR's replacement? Very few players are on his level but Its pretty much expected that Antonio Valencia will sign.Fergies been through it all before though selling big players and replacing them with players just as good/better (ie: Ronaldo replacing Beckham etc) |

Oh, I think I knew Diego had moved. He's better than Robinho in my opinion. They need a poacher? Why not Owen?
In all honesty, they don't really need to replace him that badly. Valencia isn't going to add that much and some of the youngsters should start exerting themselves more next season, anyway. |

Good article from the always good football365.
I hadn't thought of Robben and always thought Chelsea made a mistake in selling him. I still rate Benzema, though. They will probably just end up keeping Tevez. |

The hole left by Ronaldos departure is enormous. United have lost not only a world-class forward but their only genuinely prolific goalscorer. But his heart was never truly in it. It was never going to last. One figure from Old Trafford characterised it yesterday as a rocky marriage, but the sex was great. It is a splendid analogy.

BS.Dos's excellent article:
Quote: |
Mark Hughes, the Manchester City manager, has already made the doom-laden prediction that Ronaldos unusual style of taking free kicks will leave him with severe knee troubles |
How's that? |

Man Utd are a great team. Simple as that. Someone else will step in to score the goals. I'm looking at you a certain lethargic Bulgarian. The reat of the team will chip in too. The exact same thing happened when RVN left. People said "Ohhhh where will the goals come from?"
Someone like Anderson or Wellbeck will lift their game, too. |
