I wonder what would happen if an American or Canadian wanted to buy a car in Korea and then because he didn't like the price, took out a knife and started to slash him?
I also note that the suspect offered to take him to the hospital. Three guesses as to why he did that.
BTW,
If anyone cares to know, he's doing ok but needed stitches. |

And not to mention that they'd somehow blame it on all English teachers, and for weeks and months (if not years) afterwards the papers would be running story after story about knife-wielding, car-stealing, kidnapping English teachers.
And the news reports would assure us that it all must be true because the amount of stories about it testify to the veracity. Certainly, it must all be true!!!
And then they'd want background checks to see if any of us ever owned pocket-knives. |

They didn't even mention his nationality in the article, and most people would not even be sure which country he is from.
They probably assume he is Chinese. |

They may not have mentioned his nationality, but his name tells me he is one of the minseok. |

Just it. There are what, a million Koreans in Canada? So, put a million westerners here and shit is bound to happen.
There are thousands more westerners arrived here this past year. |

i/r/t the Canadian multicult, specifically Toronto:
I saw this blog post this morning and about laughed my efiin balls off:

Reader Paul points to the Boing Boing! post about how Toronto upped its multiculturality (?) for an offical publication. Seems you can't have Fun (the name of the mag) without just the right mix of skin colors. |

"The policy doesn't say PhotoShop, the policy says 'show diversity' and that's of course what we try and do because we want all of our publications to reflect the community that we serve," explained Mr. Sack, who oversees city communications. "That's only fair. People should see themselves reflected in city services because it's everyone who uses them." "When you're publishing something with the deadlines and you don't have the right photo, the objective is to communicate the service," Mr. Sack said.
"We're in one of the most diverse cities in the world. I hope that doesn't pose a problem for anybody. Capturing that diversity is not difficult. That's been our general experience." |

In an age of municipal financial crises (in Canada as well as down here), let me sidestep the bizarro need and incompetent inability(!) to find a picture that "captures" (strange word!) Toronto's undeniable mosaic of different types of folks (including at least two sorts of white Canadians). Here's a question: Why do cities waste their money printing these sorts of guides? |
Photoshopping a a black dude in liue of the original white guy seems desperate, insecure and pathetic. What is wrong with the city administrators of Toronto? And as the blogger simply asks, Why do it?
To see the Advertising Fail that Toronto has concocted, click for Reason or click for BoingBoing. |

I've seen quite a few stories about this. Various colleges and other things who photoshop in students or some such thing simply to show diversity that might not even exist. I remember seeing brochures for mine that would make it seem like white people didn't even go to that school, yet many classes were predominantly white. its idiotic. |

Toronto's a great city, and a good chunk of my friends live there now. However, the incessant mantric chanting about how "diverse" the city is really starts to grate after a while. It ends up sounding a bit like Fred Flintstone constantly repeating "I love my mother-in-law!! I love my mother-in-law!!" |

Yup.
I googled "diverse Toronto" and "diversity Toronto" and got 4million and 8 million results, respectively. This one was near the top:

I didn't know that was actually TO's motto. |
