I have had 2 interviews for schools and sent out contracts but so far I have yet to secure anything through my current recruiter.

The first time was for a position in Avalon in Seoul, my recruiter told me to send my documents ASAP so that I could secure the position, which I later did not.

The second time was more recently, today, where I secured a job, but was informed that the school decided to not bring on a new staff member because of the decrease in students. (this doesnt make too much sense to me, since I interviewed with them and sent them their contract in a timely manner).

My recruiter has all my documents and I can't decide if this is a result of something out of her control or not. Right now I am pretty pissed and cannot decide if I should just stick it out with this woman, go and try to apply through a school directly myself, or switch recruiters.

any input is appreciated

Alicia

is your recruiter going through EPIK?

Can you post which site you went to?

but I think anyone on this forum will tell you not to put your faith in ONE recruiter as he/she can fail you. It's best to shop around with recruiters and when they get you something you like go with them. I'd say go with your womanly intuition is telling you and cheat.

i'm not sure if she is going through EPIK.

Both times I thought she would get me a job, and both times I sent a contract. So I'm going back to square one for the time being. Can I ask for my materials to be sent back to me? What is the protocol in these cases?

Internet rule #1. Any information you give out on the internet lasts for eternity.

Don't expect to get your resume or photo deleted. Hopefully you didnt give them stuff like your social insurance number and other sensitive materials.

to be honest it doesnt sound like something has gone awry. It sounds to me like it might just be bad luck. Having said that the evidence is piling on and I'd strongly advice you to find another recruiter. you dont really lose anything by doing this and it might relieve your anxiety or frustration.

Right, I agree that it is a run of bad luck. Several better recruiters came to me while I was trying to get a job with my current one, so I will go back to them and see what I can get. At the moment I don't want anything to do with the recruiter I am using right now.

Should I tell my current recruiter to return my materials to me, or just get them all again myself?

materials? meaning your Bachelors degree? That can be replaced by calling your school and telling them you misplaced it. Was there something you gave them that was of significant importance? transcripts can be reordered, hopefully you made copies of your CBC because that takes time to replace.

I say just tell other recruiter(s) your open for business and wait and see which recruiter gets a job for you first.

are you from the US, canada or??

I am from the US.

I have a notarized copy of my CBC (aspostile included) and an extra copy of my transcripts, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to get my diploma again.

By any chance would you have an recruiters/schools to recommend?

thanks for all your input, i greatly appreciate it

I don't want to leave my current recruiter with my diploma and my transcripts. I might ask her to send them to a friend of mine who is already in Korea so that I won't have to pay all the fedexing fees again.

This is all pretty annoying, but in hindsight, I should have waited and selected the best offer instead of going with the first one to respond to me. Live and learn!

I wont send them an original of anything that doesnt cost under $5 and have a quick re-supply time.

Have a copy of any important document notarized and apostille applied. In many places its same day service, Notary is generally free at a township, city, or county office, and Apostle varies some by state, but I find it easy.

That way you keep your originals for use if anything changes.
I had really good luck finding positions and am on my way out the door. Keep trying and stick with your gut.
