I have no gripes thus far. I've noticed a lot of people complaining about certain things, but I guess I haven't been here long enough to witness them. My Hagwon has been amazing, the job is wonderful and everyone has been very helpful. I've noticed that the Koreans I've encountered outside of work have always gone out of their way to help me, I have nothing but praise for everyone here so far. This is also the first time I have been out of the United States.

So far, so good.

The reason I am posting this is due to the amount of horror stories I keep reading on this board.

Very Happy

I didn't really have a ton of expectations. I'm near Nowan. There's plenty of fun things to do, and places to visit. I might go climb the mountain this weekend.

My honeymoon period lasted nine months. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Soon you find yourself rationalizing things you'll enter the apologist stage.

Newbies can come over and luck out with good hagwon gigs - it does happen. But get back to us after you can understand a bit of what Koreans are sayin to, about, and around you and tell us if still think they're all so fantastic.

Being here 1 month doesn't mean squat. Of course they will treat you well now. Wait a few months, then you will see things go bad.

When you do, post your problems and we'll help you sort them out. Sometimes you can deal with them, other times you have to leave.

I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

My honeymoon lasted about seven months. Since then I've felt more and more unwelcome and unwanted, like I'm being tolerated.

There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman.

Everyone should read the novel before they watch the flick. Bret Easton Ellis is a genius.

Check out Lunar Park and The Informers too!

Glamorama was the best. Have you read it?

It all goes back to Camden in his Ellis's novels.

Yes.

Victor is amazing in the novel.

Strangely enough, the only one I haven't read has been Rules of Attraction.

I still want to go watch The Informers, but can't find it. It was tough enough trying to find it playing at home.

You've got to watch Less Than Zero. It was Robert Downey Jr's breakout movie, and actually mirrors his real life with drug addiction.
