Hello all!

I am looking to see if anyone knows if there is a bus that goes directly from Gimpo to Sinchon?

I am new to Korea and have no idea what I'm doing on where I'm going. One of my friends goes to Uni there, and I'm going to meet up with him at Sinchon station next week.

I heard that there is a bus that goes directly from Gimpo to Sinchon, and I think I saw it yesterday when I was at the bus station but I'm not sure.

If there's anyone in the area that knows, it would be very helpful to me. If there is an online website I could look at too, and figure it out on my own, I can do that as well. I was searching and I found this:

"No number: an express bus to Sinchon station (40 min) Korean lettering: 신촌"

Has anyone taken this bus?

Thank you so much!

Hey! I'm in Gimpo, too. There is no direct bus to Seoul. Not sure about Sinchon. I'll look it up & get back to you & edit.

Edit: It's on line 2. Do not confuse Shinchon Station (Sinchon) (which is west of Seoul), with Sincheon Station, which is south of the Hangang (River) near Jamsil, & also on line 2 south east of Seoul. You'll need to change subway stations from purple line 5, to green line 2, at Yeong Deung Po Gu Office subway station. Hongil University also has its own subway station just before S(h)inchon.

To get to Seoul Station, the 88 bus goes to Song Jeong, as does the 60-3 bus to Yeong Deung Po(which is usually a lot more packed). From Song Jeong, you walk about 50 meters towards Seoul, for the Line 5 Subway station. You change trains from purple line 5 to blue line 1, at either of the interchange stations of Singil (pronounced closer to 'Shingil') or Jongno Sam Ga.

Here's a Seoul subway map:

I know that Ehwa Womens University has its own subway station.

"Sinchon is at the heart of surrounding universities, such as Yonsei, Ewha, and Sogang, which are famed for their International Studies departments."

The bus from Gimpo to Sinchon is purple, yellow, and white and has no number on it but it does say Gangwha Express on the side. It stops at Gimpo High School stop on the main road to Seoul. It costs 2,100 and you pay up front. Tell the driver where you are going. You can use T-Money or cash.

The last stop is Sinchon bus terminal. To get to the subway from there you just walk back up the hill to Exit 7. The last one leaves around 11.20 I think. Normally it takes 40mins but it can be as quick as 30 if the roads are quiet.

Don't confuse it with the other purple, yellow, and white bus that has a number 3 on it. I have no idea where that goes.

Don't take this advice. This is by far the slowest way into Seoul, especially to Sinchon.

Michael, it really depends on what time the OP is going. I get the bus from Gimpo High School early morning peak hour, & it often takes 30 minutes or more, to get to Janggi, just a couple of kilometres from Gimpo. Going the other way towards Yeong Deung Po is just as slow in peak hour, when the traffic sometimes stops completely in gridlock. I didn't get to school until after 11am on my first morning, when I inadvertently got on the bus at 7:40 am, to Yeong Deung Po, & back to Gimpo, & on towards Daegot.

The subway is much faster during peak hour. To clarify, get the 88 bus to SongJeong, walk to the SongJeong subway station, & change subway stations from purple line 5, to green line 2, at Yeong Deung Po Gu Office subway station. From there, it's only 4 stations to Shinchon.

there's also a new red and white bus - the 7000 (1700 won) which goes from City Hall to Gimpo - the last stop is the New Korea Hospital, way way out in the outreaches of Gimpo - north maybe? it's all new development out there.

this is really a good deal tho; the bus only makes about 7 stops total; one is at Dangsan Station, which is only about 3-4 stops from Sincheon. It also stops at Mapo station which is where I pick it up during the day, when traffic is light, and get off at Dangsan coming home to avoid the Seoul traffic, when the train is faster.

I've been thinking of posting about this bus so guess now is good.

this bus only runs every 40 minutes tho since it's new, I guess.

Red bus 9602 goes to 신촌, but it can be SUPER slow depending on when you go because there's so many stops/traffic; it's not express.

Thank you, all.

I'll have to try to figure out what everything means, and then take a trip out to the bus station to ask in person.

So the bus I need to take leaves from Gimpo High School? There is a bus stop near where I live but I don't think that is Gimpo High School. It's right by the expressway/freeway.

Also, if I wanted to take a taxi instead, how much do you think that would cost? To get from Gimpo to Seoul? I don't care about the price, I just would like a rough estimate.

Thank you all for your help!

I'm not sure what bus station you mean, but if you go to the bus stop it says 'Kimpo High School' on it. You can't actually see the school I don't think. Anyway if you're going the Songjeong route then you're spoilt for choice. The 9, 88, 631, 60-3, 60-2, the Gangwha express and many more all go there from that stop. The 631 and 60-3 carry on to Dangsan station on the green line so you would only then need to take one subway. Depending on traffic though this might add another 15 mins on the time. I believe the 631 even goes all the way to Seoul City Hall too.

Not sure about a taxi, perhaps 10-15 clams? Maybe a bit less? It's not really worth it unless you're in a rush.

Well, I wanted to take a taxi because I'm not sure where I'm going or if I will be able to get a bus back. To me it seems easier while I figure everything out.

What do you mean by "clams"? Dollars?

Anyway, thank you for your help. Very Happy

10-15 clams = 10,000 to 15,000 won. More, if you go peak hour (7-8am & 4-6 pm) & the taxi is sitting stalled in gridlock traffic. But still way cheaper than the US or Australia, & you don't have to factor in tips.

Taking the subway Purple Line 5 to the Green Line 2, it'll take you almost exactly 40 minutes to get to Sinchon.

When Line 9 finally opens, you can take that to the Green Line 2 (Dangsan) and transfer there. This might be even faster. It'll probably be another month though.

I'm leaving at around 5:00 or so on a Thursday evening to meet friends at Sinchon (subway?) station.

I am so confused but I'm going to try to work it out, lol.

You mean not counting the bus ride to the subway station?
