| I would like to travel during my year in Korea so I believe that I would need a multiple entry visa, but when do you apply for this? Is it in the very beginning when you initially apply for the E-2 visa? Or is it once you're in Korea and are applying for your ARC? Thanks. |

You do this any time from when you apply for your ARC up til when you want to go. The easiest time to get it is when you are applying for your ARC. Multis are 50,000 won and can only be had at the immigration office. Singles are 30,000 and can get them at the airport.
If you are American, you automatically have one. If you are a Brit, it is free, but you need to apply. And all the rest need to pay. |

I just thought that I would add that you can also get singles online. |

Oh, I didn't think you could do multi-entries online. As an American, I have no need for this service, but I seem to recall only singles online. OP, check it out! |

Let me get this straight. Are you saying that if you're from the US you automatically have a muti? |

In my 7 years as a manager, I have had many Americans on staff. They didn't have to apply for a multi re-entry. HOWEVER, if you complete one year with a company, and extend, THEN you need to pay for a new re-entry. If you get a new visa, then you get another multi re-entry.
Unless things have changed in the past month or so, or I have been so immersed in my work, I missed the memo, I believe that the regulation for Americans still applies. |

A group of us that got here in March JUST went through this. Some of us Yanks got single (including me) and some got multiple entry. It will say on your E2 visa. There is an S if you are single and an M if you are multiple. Some consulates give multiple and some give single entry (with out explanation or reason). I requested a multiple and got a single. That however is easily fixed by buying a multiple when you apply for your ARC. You can even use the same form and do it at the same time. DON"T believe that you automatically get a multiple, double check when you get here and apply for your ARC. |

I can CONFIRM this information. The Houston embassy gave me a "S"ingle entry visa "automatically". When applying for the ARC, you can pay money and get it changed to "M"ultiple entry (50k Won i think) |

This is not true. I was not automatically issued a multiple when applying for my visa in the US...had to upgrade to a multiple when I went to get my ARC in Korea. |

I assume this poster meant single somewhere in there. Anyway, yeah, IMMI doesn't always do what they're supposed to, so like the other poster suggested, check your visa to see what it says |

Read it again ... there is no place where single should be inserted instead of multiple.
