Where in the US? Yeah, Korea is pretty safe. And I have never felt even a hint of danger in China either, or anywhere I have been in Asia really, though a few jerks would be happy to steal from you, of course. Have experienced that, and seen or heard of it happening too. I'm from a small town in Canada. Quite small. Locking the door is not even on the mind there. So different to a big city. I think we carry these values wherever we go. In Seoul even I left my door unlocked often, and never had a problem. Not advised but that's kind of how I grew up I guess. Publicly at least, I'd say Korea is a pretty honest place. Got lots of stuff returned there. Once lost over a million won in a PC room in Seoul, silly me, an envelope full of those 100,000 won checks from payday fell out of my coat. Next day, got it all back. I'll give the Koreans props for things like that for sure. Such things would be much more unlikely in most countries. China? Forget about it. A few bucks, a coat, a bag, whatever. It's gone, even at a place you frequently go.
