Let me preface this with the fact that for a long time, I wanted to scream and rip up my SC account for the longest time. This has changed. Apparantly at the beginning of the year, SC finally realized that yes, having foreign customers is actually a good business move and so they have been working hard to please the expat community.

Anyway, if you are still having trouble with your banking here is an article that may be of help to you:
http://www.investkorea.org/InvestKoreaWar/work/ik/eng/nr/nr_01_read.jsp?no=608300001&l_unit=90202&bno=901060009&page=11&sort_num=3907

Aside from that, if anyone is looking for a bank, I would highly suggest the Do Dream account through SC. They waive all ATM withdrawl fees (even at other bank ATMs). (If you use the stupid Nautilus machines in the subways or the ones at the 7-11 you are still screwed) but also provide a pretty high interest rate 4.11% APY on any money that's been in the account for more than 30 days. I realize some smaller banks might offer more interest, but the advantage w/ SC is that you can usually find a branch anywhere in Seoul, they have a dedicated staff and office for foreigners, and you have access to your money through any standard ATM without having to worry about fees. Foreigners can also have access to internet banking and apparently (I haven't done this yet) be issued a credit card (I live off a check card).

Anyway, they've made a satisfied customer out of me so just passin the news along...[/url]

Yes they are good. But the tellers in Itaewon couldn't speak English, at least when I went.

Do Dream gets a thumbs up.

I get money in my account on the 1st of every month from the bank!
So my money builds on the interest as well - which is pretty awesome.

Also, haven't had any problems taking money out overseas - and my passbook doesn't show any other fees for the transactions (I took it out of a citibank machine) but I didn't quite check on the exchange rate.. if you have the Ace card, apparantly you save a bit on remittance.. but I haven't sent any money abroad yet, so I'll have to see.
