I swear there was a thread about arts/craft stores here a while ago but of course, now I can't find it. Anyway I had read about some giant 5-story arts/crafts building in Seoul with a basement full of yarn...or something like that. Anyone know where that is? Or something similar? There is a tiny shop of yarn in my town but it's always packed full of ajummas knitting on the floor and I feel very awkward going in there and looking around. :/

Yeah you're thinking of Dongdaemun Shopping Town. There's also a small shop called Turtle (in hangeul) by Hyehwa Station, line 4, exit 4. From the exit walk straight down the busier road (it's kind of a Y-shaped intersection) and it's three or four shops down from the Baskin Robbins. And in Insadong there's MyKnitStudio above a GS25 at the end of the street. You can also find a lot of stuff in the Myeongdong underground arcade by the Lotte department store.

There's also a small shop just inside exit 8 at Gangnam station. If you're in the arcade, about to go up the exit 8 steps, it's the last store on your right.

If you're looking to meet other knitters, there are a few Stitch and Bitch meetings around the city(Hyehwa, Itaewon, Gangnam, Myeongdong), just google Seoul Stitch and Bitch.
