Really, which paper is that? Obviously I haven't read deeply enough into the Steve saga. My apologies.

Most everything I read regarding him links to ajarn, which I understand is a Thai forum.

Gee, between this guy and Tony/James Hellman...It must be a certain personality that goes to foreign countries and is DETERMINED to make a minor celebrity of himself.

It reminds me of a Bukowski quote, to paraphrase: Sometimes small people who stay in a place long enough are able to gain minor power.

Here you can see some of his successful attempts to get clueless Koreans to publish his drivel.

What pisses me off so much about people like him and Mr Hellmann is that they go out of their way to attract Koreans' attention and then make such asses of themselves. I know I'm probably over-estimating the impact individuals like them can have, but things like Mr Schertzer's creepiness and Mr Hellman's dodgy past offer those who hate foreign teachers a potentially huge supply of amunition. This is why I wish not only that they'd leave this country but that others like them would know they're most certainly not welcome here.

Yeah, if he'd only leave his so-called missives on a Thai forum, then nobody at all would care. He's not in Thailand (except for his self-touted sex jaunts), thus the foreigner teachers in Thailand don't have to suffer from being identified with him; the blog is Thailand-based, so few, if any, people in Korea would encounter that and, again, the foreign teachers wouldn't have to suffer from being identified with him. But, no, he submitted his verbal offal to The Korea Times. For your reading pleasure, here is one of his more infamous "articles."

Does this stuff get translated into Korean? Or is it for English consumption (heh heh) only?
