Hey

I signed a contract to come to Korea in 2007. I sent my stuff. Then the hogwon owner pulled a "you come you pay for ticket" on me and I told him to stuff it. I wasn't able to come to korea that year as he reported me.

2 years later now. I lost that passport, and I got married and changed my name. So, I have a new passport.

I am coming to Korea. I signed with a school. I have my interview with the consulate tomarrow. Do I explain this past stuff to them? Or just
let them put the visa in my new passport and don't worry about it>?

Thanks!

Since you have an interview at the consulate that means that you already have your visa issuance number. You can relax. You have already been approved. There was no issue or red flag related to any of your past job, name change or new passport worries. Just go to the interview and answer the questions. Smile, be friendly, be polite, relax and remember how much you are looking forward your chance to teach and experience this new culture. The interview is short and easy.

1) According to your post, you never actually came to Korea. You did nothing wrong. There was nothing for the previous would-be employer to have reported you for and it is almost certain that no such report was filed. It would be irrelevant now anyway.

2) People get married and change their names all the time and Immigration is used to that. It is no problem.

3) You have already been approved. Your interview is just a formality and getting your ARC just requires filing the proper paperwork and your health check report after you arrive. As long as you don't have AIDS, TB or use drugs you will be fine.

You never got the ARC, so immigration doesn't have an old ARC number on file for you.

So what if the boss-that-wasn't reported you. You have the right to change your mind. What is more, he didn't provide you with a plane ticket, so his complaints are for naught.
