I pick up new concepts and ideas very quickly and I'm able to apply them to facts and theories I am already aware of.
I just have a really short attention span. I have no idea how intelligent I am. I do know my older sister has consistently bested me grade-wise so no matter how smart I am, I will never be good enough. |

In evolutionary terms being smart really only means being able to maintain a 'content' fame of mind / equilibrium and to spawn as many offspring as possible whilst having a large social supprt group that will take care of your best interests.

| Saw a lot of the douchebag comments on here and figured most of them weren't helpful so I'd toss my couple pennies in. I agree with you, to some extent. I assume you're really quick on the uptake (what I call intelligent) and have a good capacity for abstract thinking. I used to be really wrapped up in it in college and wasn't particularly happy, nor particularly sad. Now I'm experimenting with the less-knowledgeable, less-caring (of knowledge) aspect and find it to be about the same with happiness. I've concluded that the intelligence hasn't effected my happiness. I'm going to be heading back towards the "intelligent" life (if I may so poorly call it...sound too much like a douche myself) sometime, as soon as I can get off my lazy arse. |

This thread is by far the most grammatically correct and painfully well edited thread I've ever read. This occurred to me after about the first few posts. The only non-wanker here is the OP letting down his guard and using some natural posting language, while all the rest of yous are stroking yourselves with masterful head-job interjections, even quippy puns, for fook's sake. For four fooking page flips.
And yet, you all collectively kick around the OP for making a claim that you all make in your every itty-bitty-shitty post. Hypocrisy and arrogance aren't marks of intelligence, you all claim, but you spew it with every non-contraction, unnatural diction, monkey waxing you all pathetically do do.
OP has a legit point, and it isn't a new one, by the way. So, he's not hell-bent wrong, since the white creamy spat coming from your ears is not gray matter, but spooge! from your little head where your big head should be!

Being good at school isn't necessarily the only marker of being smart or intelligent. School smarts is a specific set of skills. For instance, I've met people who do better grade wise at school than I do. However, they don't come across as particularly intelligent. Whereas someone with a lower GPA might be more intelligent but just hasn't figured out how to play the game at school well. The problem is that society has artificially decided that school is somehow a marker of whether or not you are "smart", it's not. Some people that do well in school are dumb ***es! |
