Shaquille is challenging Hong-Man Choi.

I'm pretty sure this is another one of those Shaq jokes. But if this is true, it will be a good match. Shaq has the size, strength, stamina. He only lacks fighting skills but CHM is not too much better than Shaq.

I'm sure Mercer's 9-second destruction of Tim Sylvia will contribute to a bunch of athletes looking to fight a match or two.

What they don't realize is that Mercer IS a fighter AND he's known to have ridiculously strong punches.

Will Shaq even be allowed to fight? I'm sure there are a bunch of people making money off of him incredibly opposed to this, or any other such bout for that matter.

I think with some basic MMA training, Shaq could beat CHM. However, if I held Shaq's NBA contract, I wouldn't let him anywhere near an MMA ring and I think he know this too...

shaq can potentially beat the korean but I doubt he'll quit the NBA to do so. This is just hype.

If it ever happened, I'd look for Choi to score a lot of low kicks, and his punching power should be much better against a tall opponent.

That said, Shaq is probably much stronger and a better athlete.

I'd like to see Shaq take on Bob Sapp first to see what he's got...

edit: OK, I just watched Shaq's video and after seeing him kiss the Chuck Liddell prop, I'd like to see him try that on Heath Herring ...

He does seem serious about getting into MMA when he retires in a year-or-two. He'd make a great addition to the "Ultimate Fighter" show (which this season features Kimbo Slice).

Did anyone see that punch Shaq tried to throw a few years back? Pretty pathetic.

HA HA! Could you imagine Shaq, a multi-million dollar phenom since he was a young kid (or whatever age he got into the NBA), living in a house and sleeping in a bunk bed for 6 weeks with 15 other pesky guys stealing food and talking about their toe fungus. He wouldn't last a week.

Yeah, I remember Warren Sapp laughing about that on some show on ESPN, he was joking about Shaq throwing out his rotator cuff with that wild punch.

Hold on a second here....

Did I read that right? Kimbo Slice on the TUF?

What in the blue hell is that all about?

I mean let's think about this for a second. Let's say Kimbo wins it and ends up being a UFC heavyweight. Dana White's not an idiot, he's got Kimbo on there for the ratings and that's it. Dana White himself said that Kimbo couldn't cut it and now he's got him on TUF. On the off chance that Kimbo does win Dana White is gonna blow his figurative load with Kimbo ASAP.

He's gonna throw him in the octagon with people like Noguiera, Carwin, or Mir for example right off the bat. If Mir's in shape and takes it seriously, he'll destroy Kimbo. Hell, same for any of the heavyweights. Honestly, If Dana wants to do this right, he'll just put Kimbo against Brock. Granted Kimbo will probably go to the hospital and never fight again, but Dana will be laughing all the way to the bank.

If Shaq wins then we can expect another freestyle along the lines of "Hong man, how does my *** taste?"
