I recently downloaded Internet explorer 8 as an update suggested by Vista. However now I find that when opening tabs they don't work. When I say this I mean that the tabs open, but the web page that is supposed to be there nover opens. It just says 'Connecting...' on the tab.
Also clicking on links on websites doesn't seem to work either. I am finding this hugely frustrating and I wondered if anybody could suggest reasons why and possible solutions.
Thanks in advance. |

Sounds like a corrupted installation. Try to roll it back and reinstall. |

Download Firefox, Chrome or Opera to fix your problem. |

I knew someone would suggest that! I already did as I didn't want to destroy another mouse in frustration. I avoided using Firefox in the past as with my old laptop in caused no end of problems and also because I was (still am, when it works) perfectly happy with IE. |

So...
Firefox caused problems, and you broke your mouse in angst. IE causes you problems and you want to lovingly nurse it back to health. Or am I mistaken as to what your emotional triggers are? "Hugely frustrating" seems reasonably close to the edge for the average bear and pages not loading? Seems to defeat the purpose of the software (it is about as broken as it could possibly be: non-functional), yet you stick with it.
Get a better browser (IE8 seems buggy as all to me as well) or continue to suffer. |

I agree.
Firefox is worth it for adblock alone.
I have to use ie for Korean internet banking and gmarket, since ietab doesn't seem to run very well. IE8 seems slower and completely ruined my automated login for my bank. I wish I hadn't downloaded it.
Korean websites all seem optimized for ie6, so every option seems like the wrong one. |

My mouse was broken due to IE8 not working, which I found hugely frustrating. I now use Firefox, which isn't. Mouse intact. I was merely wondering if this was a common problem with IE8 that could be easily fixed. |
