I'm a researcher who is looking for examples of expats who have found themselves in either legal or healthcare related nightmares in Korea. Anything from culture, to language, to different treatment on the grouds of being foreign would be helpful.

Also looking into westerners arrested under the adultery law.

Well I had a bad experience at a hospital over 3 years ago.
I injured my foot by stepping on a nail, after receiving the treatment over the weekend, I was told to visit the hospital on Mon. I went in on that Mon., had the usual x-ray and then I was emited. The next day the doctor told me I must have my ankle amputated due to infection.

I asked the doctor how did he know there was an infection, with just an x-ray? His response was "I'm the doctor! I know!" and walk out.

I did leave the hospital and had a second opinion. The second, well known hospital told me, after many test, that there is no infection, and I didn't need to have my ankle amputated. Very Happy

Hi,

If you asking about legal problems relating to hagwons you will get ten million immediate replies.

Cheers,

Michelle

Yeah I agree with the above post. I think if you've been here longer than 2 years you're likely to have had legal problems with a hagwon. I've had legal nightmares with two hogwans and am still waiting for nearly 5 million from my last school, who I stopped working for three months ago.

I'm looking into people getting arrested and wrongfully charged or medical care being witheld due to lack of insurance.

For the response above about the ankle. I'm glad you kept it Smile
