|
|
I'm making a list of things I want to take to Korea, and I know this sounds retarded, but I'm so attached to my 360. Mostly because I get to play with my friends on live.
Anyway, I see the voltage on the power adapter goes to 110v, so I can either bring my 360 to Korea with me, which will take up room in my luggage, and then once I get here buy a new power adapter (I hear the cost is about 70k won)
Or I can sell my 360 here and just buy a 360 after a few months of teaching over in Korea. Would I be able to bring that 360 back with me to the States? (I'm not sure if I would need a new adapter to make it compatible with the states, or if I would need a power socket converter) If I could I would get the halo themed one because I've always wanted that one
Also, would it be in my best interest to sell the games I have now back, just in case they wont work on the new system?
What have your guys' experiences been? What do you think is best? |

Voltage adapters aren't nearly that expensive here. I think I got mine for about 12,000. |

Bring it. I brought mine and it helped me get through the boring winter here (playing GTAIV online, chatting with friends, and playing through Dead Space, the best game ever, 3 times). Now I'm playing Resident Evil 5 co-op with a friend back home. The time difference makes it difficult to play with friends sometimes, but on the weekends it's relatively easy (Saturday and Sunday mornings). |

I brought mine. I got a voltage converter or whatever for like 20,000. The deals I get on games at Yongsan market are awesome. I'm not one of those 'Gotta play the newest games RIGHT NOW' kinda guys, so I wait until the price drops on newer games and trade a lot too.
Just pack it well in your suitcase... surround it with clothing, and you'll be good. |

Make sure you are aware of region codes. Most of the games you buy here won't play in your Western Xbox.
However, a huge perk here is that you can easily get it modded and just download and burn your own games for free. |

I wouldn't get your Xbox modded because Microsoft can brick your Xbox when you sign on to Xbox live. I also wouldn't pack the Xbox in your suitcase, because luggage handlers may steal it. Even the people working at the airport warned me against it, so I packed it on my carry-on (bag w/ wheels). |

That's a good idea, thanks for the heads up on the carry on packing idea.
NTSC means region free right? So when I bring my 360, I just need to make sure to buy NTSC games?
Also how come they have the region restrictions on some games? |

I forgot to mention game regions...
It's such a pain in the ass to have to research each game I'm interested in when I'm at Yongsan. I go there, find a game I like, and look it up on the web to see if it's compatible with NTSC boxes. I use this guide:

NTSC does not refer to region coding, it is a TV analog standard used in some countries. Such as the US and Korea. I would look it up on playasia before purchasing as ppcg4 suggested. |
