First of all, have you tried another set of headphones? This sounds like a stupid question but you need to troubleshoot all avenues. I worked in tech support before and you'd be surprised how many people just didn't have their computer plugged into the wall.

Second, maybe you can find some replacement parts online (maybe gmarket) and fix it yourself. Back home, my iPod got wet and I replaced the screen myself - bought a new one on eBay. You may also need to buy some special tools for micro-work (e.g., small screwdrivers, things to pry open the open without scratching it). I can also help you find this - or you can borrow mine. I have no idea why I brought my set to Korea with me; haven't used it yet.

Another option is what you probably want to do, and that's to have someone fix it for you. I'll ask my Korean friends if they know of any places. I'm in Seoul, not sure where you are though.

Hopefully you can get it resolved.

Oh, another option is to buy a reverse splitter (I'm not sure what they're called but I've seen them). Basically it'll just take your right channel and make it mono so you'll hear on both phones.

Why not go to the Apple repair center and ask how much it costs to fix out of warranty?

Go to the Apple store in Myeongdong, they'll give you a new one if it really doesn't work.

It worked for me (32 gb ipod touch 2nd generation) and they didn't ask for my receipt. Maybe because I'm a foreigner, maybe it's the Korean way. For whatever reason I couldn't believe it but it worked.
