I'll be going to Iksan which is a city north of Jeollabuk-do (North Jeolla).

It's not a big city with a population of ~300k.

How can I find one? Anyone here taken up boxing in Corea? I'm interested in doing something more fun than jogging and losing weight at the same time.

thanks.

Best bet is to find a school that has a team. They would probably let you use it. I use my wife's school gym. They got a heavy bags, ropes, and free weights. I mostly use the weights but I'm gonna start some kinda boxing stuff. The middles school kids make sure to tell me when i'm doin' something wrong. I enjoy it and it's free.

Boxing has had a fairly long history here. Ask around. I started at a small gym in Cheongju. Now I box in Seoul. Your city may have one.

There must be a boxing club in Iksan. They are all over the place in Daejeon (it seems quite popular).

Most boxing gyms will have signs saying "킥복싱" or "K-1" or sometimes even "태보". Such gyms exist nearly everywhere in Korea (note the spelling). Even in Iksan there is one not far from the KTX station, down the main drag.
