How does it compare to Seoul?
Is it like comparing LA vs New York?
Or more like LA vs Sanfrancisco? |

Haeundae is definitely worth visiting.
Gwanganli maybe too.
Nampodong and Samyeon and the university pubs aren't anything special if you're coming from Seoul. |

It's really not that much different from Seoul, with the exception of a couple of pretty decent beachfront areas. It's definitely worth checking out for at least a weekend if you're in Korea for a year.
Just steer clear of Haeundae (the main beach) between mid-July and mid-August. It's utter chaos. |

| I'm from Busan, it's great. Can't compare Seoul and Busan to 2 cities from back home. It;s a much smaller version of Seoul, on the beach. It has about 6 or 7 different "areas" that we frequent. This time of year, though, its better to stick by the water, for the breeze and the late-night (drunken) swim. If you go to Haeundae, go to Taco Senora (ask any foreigner where it is, very well known among us all). Whatever you do, don't go to the aquarium. Definately hit up Nampodong for some nightlife/ shopping if you're into that. Gigalchi (one stop before or after Nampo, can't remember) has the biggest fresh fish market in K land. Something to see. Go to SongJong beach during the day (out past Haeundae) and the temple out there on the water (you can't miss it). Go to Kyungsung Univ at night, or maybe Gwangali beach. Kyungsung has many many galbi, sam kyup sal restaurants for 3000-3500 won servings, if you like that. Cheapest around, and very good. Haeundae and PNU have pretty good night scenes, as well. BUt for the beach, like I said, definately hit up Songjong at least once, much less crowded (not on the subway) than the others. YOu can take a bus easily from haeundae area, its about a 15-20 min ride along the coast. The wester bar (blowfish bar) right on the beach has some amazing tacos. |

I've visited 3 times in 18 months cos it's so easy to get to and it's great fun. I've stayed in Seomyeon, Songjeong and Gwangali. If you're going to swim, Songjeong is great. My other two trips were in May and it wasn't quite warm enough to swim yet. Gwangali is a great place to just chill on the beach with some good restaurants, bars, or the cheapest bar of them all, the Family Mart! There are some good clubs and bars in Seomyeon, but you get that in Gwangali with the beach included.
Next time I'll probably go somewhere different, but I highly recommend a trip to Busan |

I love the comparisons you were trying to make.
Yes going from Seoul to Busan is like going from LA to NY. Haha don't mind me.....
Anyways Busan is worth a trip and has sexy beaches... at least compared to Seoul! |

A: It costs 16,000W (half of a descent night out).
B: It's absolutely nothing special. Of coarse for 5000W more you can take a "glass bottom boat ride," which consists of a little canoe across a 2ft deep man made pool. Great fun.
Can you tell I felt a little ripped off by the place?? |

Anyone who thinks 32,000 won is a decent night out is going to feel ripped off by anything more than a 600won bottle of soju. |

Hey, anytime you wanna come buy me drinks, feel free, dude! 32,000 may not be the best night out, but I almost never pay cover charges, and always stick with beer (maybe the occasional round of shots). That being said, I rarely go over 40, 45 thou a night. Not all of us make 3.0/month, and some of us got some serious debt back home!! |
