| I bought a scooter about ~ 12 months ago, new, with papers. I'm pretty sure I won't get much if I sell it before I go, so I'd like to bring it back to Canada with me ( Montreal to be precise). Anyone have experience with this ? |

| I saw an episode of M*A*S*H once where one of the guys was sending a jeep home once piece at a time. I'm not sure what all that air freight would cost you, but it'd be an interesting story. |

| I heard someone say 3000 for a car.. so I assume less than that for a scooter.. |

This sounds difficult. Aside from all the freight costs, you might also get hit with tariffs and registration fees. Of course if you really like it, it may be worth it.
How do you know you couldn't get much for it?
Did you try posting it on the Buy/Sell/Trade forum?
Old cheap scooters are everywhere here. If yours is newer and in good shape, someone may give you a fair price. Just an idea. |

how many levels of safety can there be for a scooter ? For a car, I understand:

Its in really good shape, that's why I want to bring it back with me. 1800km, parked indoor, but I haven't tried the buy/sell/trade. Its the same as this model

which is not the most popular for foreigners. Looks small, but fits me and my g/f easy. Max speed was 100km.
I researched some earlier threads and found one which recommended www.intlmovers.com. They already called me back, I'm expecting a quote tomorrow. I'll let you guys know the story |

You are right. Canada won't accept any scooters not from the US.

Looks like that's what I would have to do, but sadly, no time.

| For those interested ( and which have a scooter street legal for Canada), I was quoted 1,600,000 won for the scooter + a few boxes. Destination was Montreal harbour |

I think there are a few things you really need to consider. Most importantly, parts. When you change the oil, which in a scooter should be done more often than the 125's, where are you going to get a filter?
What if you get in a fender bender and need a body piece? Importing parts is not cheap at all. And good luck on the language barrier when you call a wreckers here.
I just would not bother myself. Its a scooter, not a BMW.
