My school and I mutually agreed to end the contract early. But I am taking some online classes and I want to finish them before I leave. They end in a few weeks.

So, I want to stop teaching and stay an extra month to finish the classes.

My school seems to be ok with this but the director's English is extremely low level and Im not totally sure we are understanding each other. My worry is that we dont understand each other and he cancels my visa without me knowing about it.

Then I try to leave in a month, and immigration tells me I did something wrong.

Im not sure if I want to come back to Korea again but I'd like to leave the option open.

So, I think my question really is:

If I am assigned an exit order, is there someone that has to show it to me in order for it to be valid?

If I have an exit order but no one tells me about it, and I know nothing about it, can i be given consequences for not obeying it (fines, not being allowed another korean visa in the future)?

If I do have an exit order, that's fine. Its inconvenient but ill just leave. Im more worried about what happens if my visa is cancelled and I dont know anything about it.

Actually experiences would be nice to hear.

My advice is that you first get the agreement in writing, or present to them in writing so there is no confusion about that part of it.

Second the dates of your legal stay should be on your visa, you have to get permission to be in country beyond that period.
When you leave the country they check all of your paperwork and it can be very incontinent at a minimum to fix it the day you exit.

I think it is always better to have these things secured compared to leaving it up to chance.
Start with the alien regrestration office, and they should be able to help you. I wouldn�t worry about explaining the agreement with the school as the first step I mentioned is to ensure that the director is ok with the scenario and will not be revoking your visa.
Just check your date for exit on the visa, then if you need more time to complete your school contact immigration.

I would give you more specific info buy my experience is with Japan immigration when I was teaching there.

We are going to end the contract early, I am definitely planning on leaving before the original end date of the visa.

im just worried hes going to cancel the visa without telling me about it. we did do something in writing, it says that i "want to make a report to immigration on july 15th."

thats around the time i want to leave, im just not convinced he and i are really understanding each other.

do like the other poster said; at some point you need to go to Kimmi and check in with them anyway - when is your visa expiring anyway?

exit orders are no longer given the way they were before (in a typed letter) - now Kimmi will write on your ARC card your extension date. when it says "final extension" that's when you have to go, no matter what.

don't let your dir's lack of E be an excuse for what is ultimately your responsibility, which is to monitor your visa status, ok?
