Yesterday, I was out and about with another westener and we saw another expat within close range. My buddy went up and said, "Hi, Whats up?, blah blah blah.". I didn't go talk to him because he was super fat and looked very bad. He looked like he just ate a tire and his clothes didn't match and they were raggy and just plain worn. I didn't talk to him the whole time, I was there for about forty minutes or so. It's weird because I usually don't care what my friends look like. I have a couple friends who are a little chunky, however, I think I just got grossed out by how fat this guy was. Should he change ? Or should I?

He should lose weight. It's bad for his health.

Was it because you were concerned about how others would view you or was it because of a physical disgust?

Either way, your reaction was probably normal. Why would you change?

Well, to answer your title question, it makes you sound pretty superficial to say the least.

2nd and 3rd questions combined; it's easier to change one's self. Why should he change for you anyway?

Did you ask your buddy about him? Why did he find it ok to go over? Maybe he found the guy more interesting and "real" than you. He could have been a great guy.

You were really worried that the "babes" would think less of you for talking to someone over weight? Yes, superficial to say the least. Sounds like you were judging them to be superficial as well.

Sorry if it sounds like I am on a high horse, but my older brother dealt with weight issues all his life and he told me about and I witnessed first hand the crap he had to put up with. Talking about health concerns is a cop out too!
