Has anyone transferred their E-2 visa to a D-2 visa.
My E-2 expires at the end of August. I am going to study
Korean at a university language center starting in early
September. I was wondering if it was possible to transfer visas.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Also, while on the subject, what's up with the work situation with a
D-2. I read that, legeally, after a semester, you can work up to
20 hours a week, pending approval of your university language
center. Anyone have experience with this? Anything would be greatly
appreciated. |

Thanks a lot for the info.
The info I looked at also appeared to be a couple of years old.
I just wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience.
I'll give immigration a ring.
Thanks again! |

D-2 is not for studying Korean. Its for studying something else, like an MBA or Korean studies or something.
If you want to study Korean, you can change from an e2 to a D-4-4 without leaving the country. You cant legally work on that.
Youll need a letter of acceptance from the school, proof of at least 3 million won, 50,000 passport and alien card. |

Everyone works part-time on the D4 anyway. The semester fees are equally as expensive as a degree course, it's unbelievably stupid to prevent students from working. They must only want rich kids studying here, obviously..
Btw you could study Korean at a degree level, that'd get you the D2. |
