Anyone know the current going rate for part-time English editing?

Hourly? Per word?

Go hourly, not by page or word. Some Koreans' prose abortions take a lot longer to edit (or to figure out what the hell they're trying to say) than others.

I get W3k per page, but what I edit is easy... technical but common knowledge/common sense stuff (no travel time required either of course) so it works out to be like W45k/hour because I can do it quick.

Good work if you can get it.

Of course it depends on how experience you are and how tough the stuff is that you're editing too, right?

But if you have to ask on this forum then...

Anyways ask for something that you think is high and negotiate from there.

There have been other threads on this... some people are more experienced, what they edit is harder, they got a better deal, they think they are God's white gift to Korea, etc so they probably got me beat by a wide margin in terms of pay.

I just did a quick job. Averaged out to about 60K per hour and they got off cheap. However, the same company told me that they 'had a foreigner' editing for them at 20K/hour.

Smile, say take-it-or-leave-it, and be VERY prepared to walk away. Also, if you want more money, have a reason (type of degree, degree level, experience...).
