Fatties living in rich countries don't really have much of an excuse anymore. Even with a slower metabolic rate or bad genetics technocratic medicine has advanced to the point you can actually do something about it. There are diet pills, surgery, gyms, dieting information and exercise regimens available on the net for you to access any time of the day.

It should be very rare case for a person to be completely helpless against obesity. For the people that love making up excuses, that's fine. If your line of thinking convinces you that being obese is acceptable then you are welcome to believe it.

Nice work Kiwiduncan. Wish I was at your level.

Anyway, Mr. A sounds like a real hole.

Thought it was going to be a bit more interesting. Just the usual reactionary carp ><(({>

I dunno some of you are pretty *bleep* ugly. And some of you need to stop wearing your sunglasses in the subway station. There's no sunlight down there. Saw 3 whities this week with shades on waiting in line for the subway car. What the *beep*.

get some sun for chrissakes, please! pallidity and pastiness are not attractive qualities.l

as to ugly, well no more or less than your typical crossection of society and in their defense I definitely saw some attractive Westerners of both sexes in Seoul last weekend.

Funny. When I lived in a shared house with some Italians in London, a lot of them said they didn't know why English people were so keen on tanning in summer. They espoused the opinion that our pale complexions were delicate and pretty - like China dolls.

They only tanned themselves as they thought their skin went a dirty yellow color if they let their tans fade.

Food for thought.

And of course 'some' sun can make one look radient and healthy, but just look at mediteraennean 50 year olds with their scraggy, withered, wrinkled leather skin and tell me that looks good....

those people have been abused by the sun for years, rather than controlling their exposure in order not to look pallid and pasty.

besides, after 50 on the looks front you are pretty much SOL, so think of it this way. Instead of just merely looking like crap, you'll look a bit more crappy. Very Happy

from the translation:

"At the school rally a student hit him in the face with a pie, then Mr. B grabbed her waist and rubbed his face between her breasts."

I don't know...but for some reason that's the funniest thing I've read in some time.

I find it a little ironic that there's a story about a foreigner who is scary because he went to the Philippines and had unprotected sex with a prostitute. I mean, isn't that a national pasttime in Korea?

The difference is, the foreigner would admit to himself that he might get AIDS. The Korean would come home, give it to his wife, then give to other prostitutes, and they would both be too ashamed to either get tested or admit it to anyone.

without going off topic, the AIDS threat from vaginal heterosexual sex for males has been vastly overstated. Your odds of catching the virus from an infected woman is about 1 in 500 each time, assuming you're in normal health, with no abnormal swelling, cuts or lesions, etc in the genital area.

the risk for the female is greater (about double)

If it were as dangerous as they'd like to have you believe, vast swaths of the population would now be infected, 20 plus years after the virus became known and identifiable.

that said, even with the very low odds, it would REALLY SUCK to be the unlucky one, wouldn't it?

Yep, I have no sympathy for the fat bastards who do nothing to keep their weight down, yet wonder why people won't hang out with them.

The headline of the Korean news article said SOME foreign teachers, not all. And well, to say NO foreign teacher is a pervert or couldn't get laid back home is also untrue.
