|
|
I want to rent a car in October when my parents come here. Someone on another thread mentioned you either need an international license or you need to have held a Korean license for a full year. Obviously October is less than a year away. Should I get an international license? How is this done? |

An international driving permit is easily obtained. AAA is one place you can get it from.

IDP's are basically your driver's license translated into other languages. |

If you're here on a working visa and not a tourist visa, you can't use an international driver's license...At least I think I remember reading that on the gov. website--search for it. |

That is untrue. I have researched this and verified it with the Driver's License Agency.
The IDP is only good for one year. They recommend you get a Korean license (which is easy if you have your home license). But as long as you keep your IDP and home license valid (and carry them together), you are legal in Korea. |
