This Korean guy at my work was like, "Oh the US dollar is getting stronger vs. the won and will continue to strengthen over the course of the next few years." Well... that's not EXACTLY what he said, but it was what he was TRYING to say. Anyway, what do you think about it?

Is it bull***t?

These Koreans think they're so smart. They love to act like they know everything. This is the same guy who went completely bankrupt a few years back and put his whole family in a terrible situation. Now he's trying to teach me something. Typical Korean...

Wow, someone gave you financial advice, that is so typically Korean. Rolling Eyes

Btw, he is dead wrong, the USD is going to implode in a big way some time in the next 2 years.

Either that or it will go up, down or stay the same.

Please stop starting multiple threads on the same topic, especially when there is already a thread for it. It is really quite tiresome.

If you ever try to raw dog it again, I will be the voice in your head saying 'for the love of god, stop trying to dilute the gene pool'.

May I ask what you mean by "these Koreans"? Don't you think you're over-generalizing a bit? I think it's more of a function of who you surround yourself with, regardless of race. I work with predominantly Koreans at my job, where we analyze Korean OTC derivatives. I must say, the guys I work with are one of the most finance-savvy people I've ever met.

I remember back in 2000, everyone and their mothers back in the U.S. were giving stock advice on the latest internet dot com stocks. They all proved to be wrong. I'm not going to say they were "typical Americans".

And by the way, most major sell side research shops are actually bearish on the Korean won against the U.S. dollar for the balance of the year, so perhaps your "friend" may actually be giving you good advice.

I'm sorry, but you come across pretty uneducated on this topic.

Actually, everyone giving stock advice then was absolutely correct. In 2000, you should have been in dot com stocks. Unfortunately, people stayed in them and got burned. THAT was the problem. It's all about timing.
