My wife and I left the US about a week after her sister died. We left behind 2 nieces and a nephew that we were very close to. We would like to spend some time with them when we go home. If we wait until Sept. they will be in school and not much time. We are curious if anyone is able to go home around the first 2 weeks of July? There are exams then the last week which is movies. The POE wants us to do all this summer crap but if we go home now tickets will possibly be cheaper and we will be back for all this summer stuff.
Any advice?
PS: My POE says keep the tickets under 1.3 million. Hard to do for 2 round trips to Memphis and the contract says actual purchasing price. Anyone had any trouble with this in the past? |

It sounds like your school/school district/POE has you 'snowed'.
Normally, PS teachers take half their 'holidays' (paid leave) during the school's summer vacation and the other half during the winter vacation.
They must give you your contractual paid leave (plus any contract renewal 'home leave') - so go home some time after school vacation starts (mid July) and the beginning of the second semester (late August).
If your contract specifies airfare reimbursement don't accept anything less than the actual purchase price of round-trip tickets (last Aug., mine cost over 2.9 mil. for one person). |
