That's how my uncle passed away...CPR even performed by paramedics is not very effective, and if he had no pulse or breathing when they found him, he's in very bad shape. I really hope otherwise. |

Have to say that is one of the most shocking pieces of news I've heard in a long time. Only 50. Wow. I was wondering why they were playing so much Michael Jackson on the radio when i was coming home. Wasn't expecting his passing to be the cause. |

What is really sad is that his death will become as much of a circus as was his life. |

LAPD homicide has opened an investigation.
Quote: |
The circumstances of Jackson's death remain unclear. Law enforcement sources said that Los Angeles Police Department robbery-homicide detectives have opened an investigation into the death, though they stressed there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. The detectives plan to interview relatives, friends and Jackson's doctors to try to figure out what happened. The L.A. County coroner's office will determine a cause of death. |

I suppose they're looking for Ana Nicole Smith style wrongdoings by his physicians and 'inner circle'. |

They're looking for evidence of an addiction to painkillers. Specifically demerol.
I wonder how old those kids of his are now? Michael Jr., Paris and Prince. Prince was the baby he dangled over the balcony in Berlin in 2002, right? That would make him 7 or 8ish. |

michael jackson was a waste of skin. Dead at 50? Why am I not surprised. Funny he didn't croak sooner.
I dislike this circus clown not only because he 'loves' children and spends money like a fat 12-year old, or because he's an insane narcissist, or because he had skin conditions and spent millions to hide them and repeatedly lied to the world, but most of all, for the last 15 years of his life, he decided to be anything BUT philanthropic. He's contributed all he possibly could have, and now the world's better off without him. He's the poster boy of how NOT to raise your children.
"How dare you talk smack about MJ?? He's black, effeminate, had a rough childhood, and is the king of pop! People like this canNOT be ridiculed! Ask the liberal media! It was his alcohol father's fault! Get with the liberal 90s!"
Or perhaps he was a pervert who wrote some great songs in his youth, then made some bad choices, sank into obscurity, and faded away like his see-through nose. |

Never were truer words written on this forum.
Michael Jackson was a contemporary portrait in utter pathos. To the end, he and his family denied reality: his body-altering surgeries (some botched), his child molestation (some settled out-of-court), his slow descent from musical fame (he was never the same after the 1980s) and his dysfunctional family life (two wives left him).
He was a soaring talent but to some extent a victim of his own success. He was a Hollywood child tragedy like so many others writ larger than life. He never had a real childhood and spent his remaining life trying to recreate what was never there in the first place. His always strained relationship with his father, his sisters trying to ride on his coat-tails and altering their own faces, his reckless spending, and his inability to accept his declining popularity. To some extent, he felt he was above the law and that money can solve everything. In his case, it almost did, but of course he was not alone in the mark of this brand of Hollywood entitlement.
I mourned Presley much more than I'll mourn Jackson for three reasons: the real Michael died long ago, Jackson did himself in with too much self-medicating, and he was likely a pedophile (at the very least a pervert).
No, as brutal as it might be to say this, his children are probably better off now without him. They don't have to continue growing up in the shadow of a self-made freak.
His fans--many remind me of a Star Trek cult on crack--will go nuts over his loss. Music lovers will miss his talent, and rightly so, but his days of pop chart toppers was long over.
Funny, although Michael and I grew up in the same generation, and despite all his big hits, the song that I most remember, and which I firmly believe epitomizes his angst, is "Ben," about a boy and his rat, which became a hit before Thriller.
It is next to impossible not to listen to that song and feel a pang of regret and sympathy for this blockbuster talent. I truly hope he finds peace in the next life--Lord knows he never found it here.
And to those who would defend him out of hand, even zealously, I would ask: who among you would trade your own life for his, with all his riches but all his inner turmoil? |
