So I am trying to get a position in Busan and was wondering what people think of YBM ECC. When I was in Daegu, the teachers taught older students (university age) and had 3-day weekends every month. On the downside, they had to work two Saturdays a month. I don't mind that so much. The vacation is 10 days plus a week in the summer. So thats 17 days a year, sounds good. The pay is lower than what I wanted but I like the perks.

They offered me these three positions:
1. Haeundae ECC

2. Geumejeong ECC

3. Gaegeum ECC

Does anyone work there? Send me a PM if you do. What about the areas? Is Haeundae right on the beach? which ones are in the best areas for being close to downtown?

Thanks,
-Sean

Well I am not too sure about YBM ECC in Busan as I work here in a public school I can tell you a bit about the areas. Haeundae yes is the beach area, but the actual location is by Jangsan, the last stop on the line 2 subway. It is a gorgeous area, but it is a ways out from downtown. It is a nice quick subway ride over to Haeundae, which is an all right beach area, and it is a short bus ride away from the excellent and much quieter Sojeong Beach. The new Costco is opening up in that area too. It is far out from downtown though, which is a good 45 minute subway ride away. If you are looking for downtown location Gaegum is a great choice. The Gaegum area has a pretty sizable and friendly foreigner community, it is close subway to Seomyeon, which is an excellent transit hub, hangout spot, shopping spot, and nightlife area. It is also a short transfer away from the "downtown" as the travel guides usually call it, which is around Nampo-dong and Jalgachi, which is about a 20 minute subway ride from there. Geumejong is way the heck out there. Probably the worst of the two if you want downtown, beach or anything. Have you tried to get placement in the Kyungsung area? That area is quite fun, but a lot of people I know in that area never leave that area as it is quite the party out there. In terms of the individual branches though I have met a few people from the Gaegum branch and they are a good bunch. Although one of them is making a beeline for the new EPIK placement in August. In other words there is the usual hagwon ambiance there, and probably in any other place, but you can not go wrong with some cool foreigners to hang with.

According to YBM's site http://www.ybmecc.co.kr/index.asp?sub1=who

the ECCs are schools for children not college aged adults...

I thought the adult hakwons went under a different YBM name than ECC???
