Anyway, in terms of gullibility, I told an old girlfriend (old as in previous, she was only 22) that the UK has six seasons. I'd pre-warned a mutual chum who added credence to the scam. I also told one guy that in the UK you have to use formal speech with people younger than you, and that old people cower indoors and don't go out after dark. Hey, that last bit's true! |
Yeah Savage Garden is pretty gay bro....no argument there. But unfortunately the kids here don't have a taste for good music so I have to hit them with something they can enjoy. If it was up to me...we'd be doing Led Zep, Smiths, and Slayer dictation....but it wouldn't work too well. |

They're never gonna learn if you don't teach em. I've used the cure before and that worked pretty well in the classroom. I could see the smiths working as well, in fact I might try it later this afternoon in my after school class. Something like Panic. |

Only on Dave's can a group of people criticize a culture for being honest and trusting one post and criticize it for being dishonest and paranoid the next...
We need to exploit this with some sort of Madoff style front and haul 50 million bux each back to the states...

Funny...I actually used The Cure's "Friday I'm in Love" this week. It's really good for the days of the week and getting them into some decent pop music...not that superjunior/2pm bullcrap they love. |

I'm surprised you can find it! Laugh out loud.
I did a lesson on music a few weeks ago. Showed the little darlings a load of different clips on YouTube - Dolly Parton, Daft Punk, The Clash, a snippet of Bach, Herbie Hancock, Sean Price, Wayne Wonder, Marvin, and my brother's band Beretta Suicide. I also slipped them a nugget of frothy K-Pop goodness in the form of "Gee". I'd taught them a load of different phrases - "commericialised" (상업적인), "good beat" (좋안 박사), "repetitive" (아이 칸트 래맴브르) - and got them to apply the different phrases to the different bits of music. They actually surprised me; lots of them enjoyed hearing the different music, stuff they hadn't really been exposed to before (although "Rock The Casbah" was pretty roundly condemned). |
