To promote woman MMA fighter "Cyborg" Santos and her upcoming show-down bout next month with popular champ Gina Carano, a reporter voluntarily took a choke and was painfully submitted to unconsciousness...

Reportedly, the clip is spreading across the Internet "like a virus" so I guess the publicity stunt may pay off...

In the big fight (August 15) both fighters seem evenly matched, and fans of Gina Carano may be concerned that her pretty face might get badly bruised.

Having seen each fight only once, I think that both girls are tough and skilled enough to protect themselves in the ring - but it's a brutal sport and anything can happen (unless the main event is fixed too...)

Here are a couple clips of Carano ...

I have a feeling that Cyborg is going to destroy her.

Lady cyborg trains in her brother's camp with the boys. Westerners (men and women) spend so much time imagining the limits on women's ability in the ring noone trains them to full capacity. That's the danger. I love that reporter. The language in MMA reporting for female fighters tends to be dismissive and patronizing towards women. Whenever the anchor accidently belittled lady cyborg, he brought it back to reminding everyone she is a great fighter, not just a great female fighter. I guess they stopped calling her "lady cyborg" for that reason. What are they calling her brother now?

She was always my favourite Gladiator. She was also one of the two trainers on the Muay Thai reality series Fight Girls.

Here's a good "Cyborg" highlight reel (I'm glad that I'm not fighting her...)

I still think that Carano is capable of winning - both have 7-0 MMA records.

I'm curious what the Vegas odds will be.

This site will list the entire Strikeforce card (and odds) as soon as they're announced.

It also tracks the upcoming Aug. 1 card featuring "Fedor" against Josh Barnett. No surprise that Fedor is a fairly big favorite, but I think that bout should also be very competitive.
