I've been in hagwon hell for the past two months - delayed pay, every form of shadiness imaginable - and I just gave my "20 days notice" on Friday. I know, that was probably just asking to get screwed even more.
So Monday rolls around and I'm essentially told "you can't leave, stay an additional month, we won't honor it."
I'm not surprised, but I just got an offer from my old boss from my another hagwon who wants to hire me pretty much immediately after those "20 days" of notice.
I want this job more than anything in the world, and I'm desperate to get the hell out of my current nightmare.
Can anyone give me some specifics on changing jobs from hagwon to hagwon? I'm aware of some basics (visa run, etc.). But what exactly do I need from my current employer?
I've heard a letter of release isn't actually necessary, that a cancellation of the contract with Immigration is what really counts. I also have heard the last resort is the Labor Board (the school already has a history with them), but for me I think time is of the essence. How can I get it done ASAP?
I'm feeling pretty desperate. Right now I just plan to stick to my guns and state simply that I'm leaving, but I'm terribly afraid of losing the chance to take the job I really want.[/i] |
