Hi
I'm interested in the difference between Elementary and Middle school teacher (curriculum / class structure ) here in the Republic.
Any thoughts? Things I should watch out for?
I'm coming from teaching Elementary students for the last year and have heard a few stories of Middle school life...but would like some other perspectives.
Ta muchly! |

What does JLP mean?
At any rate, there's a very big jump in Korea from elementary to middle school. Middle school tends to be much more serious, structured, and regimented. Which is better is all down to the individual. Elementary school's really not for me, but others say the same thing about middle school. |

Thanks for that!
JLP is Jeollanam-do Language Program. Same sort of thing as EPIK but with longer holidays.
Sounds like it might actually be easier on the teacher..not as much jumping around entertaining the students. I do love elementary though! |

Again, it all depends on the school, cc-teachers, principal, area and students. I've worked at an elementary school that was awesome and one that no one cared about with lots of kids telling me to F off. Same for middle school. One that kids respected the teachers, principal cared and the one I'm at now where I get punched, verbally abused and the principal has no clue what's going on in her school.
It's a luck of the draw. |
