Who hates hippies more, punkers or metal guys?

I love me some good ol' NOFX hippie bashing.

NOFX/Green Day type punk just can't compare with something like the Minor Threat...thats punk

NOFX and Green Day aren't in the same category. Green Day is wearing makeup and selling millions of albums while promoting corporations. NOFX has been doing the same thing for 20 years which is just play their brand of punk.

Not saying either one is that punk (compared to Black Flag, Minor Threat), but I don't think NOFX and Green Day are in the same ballpark. Although, both starting out as kind of skater-punk in SoCal they took different paths long ago.

I saw a bunch of stinky hippies when I went to Incedon. There was a little gathering and KING hippie somehow got a hold of a microphone and I wanted my ears to stop bleeding.

It's not cool to be a hippie.
It's even worse if you're being a hippie in a foreign country. Mad

Hippy-bashing has been around since hippies have been around. Stop being so decade-centric! Rolling Eyes

I remember first thinking hippies were full of BS while watching Neil's antics in The Young Ones (Brit sit-com) around 1982.

The punks of the late 70's were known for their rejection of all things hippy. Malcolm McClaren, "burn a hippy!".

Basically, I've always thought hippies were people kind of scared of life. Scared of the fact that life has a dark side. War, violence, meat-eating, industrialism..........so they try to live in a 'mellow' bubble and hope they never have to face the dark realities of the modern world.

One of the van-bus drivers at my school has shoulder length wavy hair and always wears sandals and 'loud' short sleeve button down shirts.

I call him Otto.

You definately do see some Korean hippies or pseudo-hippies out there. Yeah- definately give them props for giving the big middle finger to the conformity here.

They also seem to be the ones that treat foreigners well and are into cool hobbies and have interesting things to say....too bad they are so rare...

Minor Threat are so fucking punk man! All that drinking, shagging, smoking and drugs they do. Oh wait?

Punk encompasses such a broad spectrum these days that so many types of music can be included which sound entirely different from one another.

I concur that hippies are little better than lice.

The problem is, so much great music came out of that late 60's scene and I would've loved to have taken acid with those folks, but other than that, I really do loath hippies. Since so many of them believe in karma and reincarnation, it must worry them that they will live their next lives as rodents.
