I know this has been discussed a million times but my Google-fu is failing me. Will EPIK pay for a renewing teacher's flight home BEFORE the new contract begins? If so, how? Thanks!

It depends on the policy of your POE/MOE - they're all different.

If you're renewing for this Sept. you will use the GTR process... so yes, it's paid for 'upfront' - no waiting for reimbursement. You will just phone Korean Air or Asiana, tell them when and where you want to fly; and when it's approved (last year it took about 24 hrs.) the airline will send you E-tickets.

Not true... They are not using the GTR in Gyeongsangnamdo anymore... You still have to make the reservation with either Korean Air or Asiana, but you don't have to go through the GTR process anymore...

Actually... as far as I know they haven't figure out the exact method they are going to refund tickets this year. The "official document" should be out soon and we will know what's happening then. Just keep bugging people to get on top of it... They are really dragging there feet this year.

If they're not using the GTR process or otherwise paying for the tickets 'upfront', they can't dictate we use either: Korean Air or Asiana. We can use any airline we want so long as we book the "most direct flight available".
