Has anyone ever been thrown in prison for doing a midnight run? Do immigration really have a list of people to "watch?" I have heard many stories of people just disappearing and my first thought was why not just do it the honest way? But after spending some time here, I can see why people just vanish.

A big reason some people don't do it the "honest way" is simple reciprocity. They've been lied to and cheated out of things that were promised in their contracts, and they're just following suit.

Others come unprepared or with unrealistic expectations and instead of confronting their poor judgement/planning they just cut and run.

Some have an absolutely reasonable fear that if they give the required one-month notice they will have pay withheld and be put through the wringer before their employer lets them go.

Yes. I'm currently posting from ROK prison. I ran from a job and just left a note and they locked me up for 10 years hard labor.

Midnight runners are rounded up at the airport and sent to work camps in North Korea. That's why you never hear from them again.

-Damn, beaten to it. They must have taken pity on you waynehead. Usually it's a North Korean work camp for life.

I know the search engine is a bit slow, but this one works well. It's called "Dave's ESL Google search". Try it out
