I wonder if it is because of what our orientation did this past February.

Okay, I'll bite. What did your orientation do this past February?

Well...they told us to buy tickets that arrive on August 19th, but my contract doesn't start until August 25th.

If this is true, what do we do in that block of time then?

korean horizons. i was told to arrive on august 27. instead of orientation, training is at the school in yangsan, and the contract starts on the 31. i was wondering if this was the norm. . .or just weird.

I hope this isn't correct, or that it's a one off circumstance regarding the OP's school/situation. I liked the idea of an orientation as a way of settling in and was hoping to meet at least one or two people who would be in my city and new to Korea like me before it was over.

Have to wait and see if we hear anything from our recruiters I suppose.

I don't know how or why, but the Feb 2009 orientation did NOT include all the EPIK teachers for Busan. Some (and I don't know how they were picked) had their orientation in a smaller group in Busan.

The woman I met who had her's in Busan also did not know why the 30 or so of them were picked. They still had an orientation, but it was smaller and in Busan.

?????????

I highly doubt that there will be no orientation.

Hmm yess...... what did "your orientation" do?

Couldn't be worse than every other orientation:

1) Getting drunk
2) Not showing up for classes
3) Sleeping during classes
4) Going past curfew to go to hooker hill.

SUPRISE ME!

actually yeah, it was pretty much like that only in the middle of Cheonan. Add to that some minor property damage and drugs and you got a pretty good picture of what took place.

That's pretty severe stuff. Did they catch the culprits? More importantly lol, were they sent back?
