My contract with my current employer just finished on the 29th June, although my visa only finishes in one months time 29 July. I did not sign an extension contract, as I found a new school, who is paying more and the overall working conditions are better.
I did however tell the school a month ago I will stay on, but nothing was signed. The school owner also in the past promised me things, but when it came to the day, she went back on her word.
Now the school owner says that it is illegal what I am doing and that I cant leave her employee util they have found a new person. ????
Now I want to know the following
Is the visa linked to the school's name or is it linked to me as a person?
Can I go to another school, eventhough my visa has not run out?
My school owner refuses to give me a release letter now, but do I need one?
Currently I am working with no contract between me and the school! (good person)..
What can/may/need I do????
Please help me, or refer me to someone who can
Thanks |

You can leave now and get a new visa as of 29 July. |

Can I stay in the country, or do I need to leave???
Wont I be penalised by immigration??
Will it not be a problem when I apply for my new school???
Any legal repurcussions?? |

Sorry I meant leave your job, not necessarily the country, too. You can stay in the country until your visa expires. |

You'll probably need to find a place to live, as your current job isn't going to let you stay there once you decide to leave. |

Of course you're free to go! Nothing was signed. They are totally lying to you by saying you can't leave until a new person is found. You finished your contract with them fair and square. Don't let them bully you around. You lived up to your agreement.
Your visa is yours, it's in your passport with your name but it. It has the school's name on it too but as your employer. It's linked to both of you.
You can go to another school but since your former employer refuses to give you a release letter you'd probably better leave the country and come back with a clean slate. Otherwise you can't transfer your visa and ARC card to your next employer.
If I were you I'd let my new employer in on your situation and see what they can do so you can start working for the new school. |

You can stay in the country and change your job without fail, you have signed for one year and that is finished.
If you bring both contracts to Immigration, there will be no issue what so ever.
You have fulfilled all your obligations, so no, there can be no repercussions.
But you might want to install a simple spell check in your browser |
