I'm going to Taipei, Taiwan tomorrow-Sunday to check out the other place foreigners teach. TECO will show me around, at least tomorrow night. I'll look for a PC room and fill you in on this thread. I'll also add a page to my website when I get back.

I went to Taiwan. I guess nobody gives a crap anyway but I had a really great time. I can see why teachers like it there. The weather was ideal, but I'm not sure if I could take it in the Summer. It's winter there now and I got bit 5 times by mosquitos while I was watching a movie in my motel.TECO met me, showed me to the YMCA, got me a 15% discount...then he showed me all over the area. We ended up at Carngies club. That was a lot of fun. The girls in Taiwan are stunning. There's is definitely not the slightest problem meeting one either. What a night!

The street food is great there. I chowed on 25$ NT (less than 1$) bags of lo mein noodle mixes.

I got some beetle nut. I'm trying it now for the first time. Feels like I'm chewing skoal pretty much. Hope it doesn't make me crave cigarettes.

I think the worst part of travelling on a short trip is deciding what to buy if anything. I had money in my pocket but couldn't find anything I wanted really. Then I got to the airport and had to decide if I wanted to buy some cheesy souveneir crap or exchange the money back and return empty handed. Well, I didn't want the latter so I ended up buying a book: Fast Food Nation, some Taiwanese retro-style post cards, a bottle of French wine, a couple of gifts for the girl, a cool ceramic Taiwan house filled with wine, and finally 2 big bags of beef jerky of all things.

Well, I'd like to say more, but I'm tired now. I just got back.

Ah Taiwanese Betelnut girls..... Wink
Sounds like you had a good time. I was briefly in Taipei a week ago. Seemed to be raining a lot.
I'd kill for one of those Taipei YMCA breakfasts right now.
All I've got in the house is Kimchi Mandu.... Mad

Man, I'm in heaven right now. I'm eating Taiwanese beef jerky (man, this is truly delicious) and drinking duty free French red wine. Wow!

I can't say enough about this Taiwanese beef jerky. Who would have thought? Man, wow...it's like a parade of delicious taste in my mouth. From Taiwan? What gives?

I liked that Taiwan 7-11 and the convenience stores each actually had sometimes different things in them, and the variety was so much more than South Korea. I was eating slices of pizza and all kinds of good stuff.

I liked the girls so much...whoa. I really was a movie star there. Without a US military presence it was a lot different, it seemed.

Was this predominately in CARNEGIES?

I went there one night, but it was an off-night after a huge holiday weekend. Wasn't many people around that night. Too bad, I heard it was quite good.

I don't know. It was rocking in there and then we went to another club that was like 75% girls and 20% foreign guys. That was awesome.

Must have been near the university area? Roxy? maybe?

Most everywhere I went were predominately men and a lot of foreigners around. Maybe I went at a bad time. Didn't have as much luck unfortunately.
